5 Months

Weight: 16 pounds
Length: 27 inches
  •  Big news...you can sit up on your own!! Even though it's only for a few seconds, you can do it! This is a skill that you have mastered in just the past week. You are such a big boy!
  • When you see a toy that you want (especially one that makes noise), you can work yourself to it even when it is far away from you. You roll over and over and crawl like an inch worm to get yourself to it. You are very determined!
  • You are a pro at rolling over from your back to your stomach and from your stomach to your back. If Mommy or Daddy set you down for a second and turn away, you have already rolled over and are in a different position.
  • You still love to put EVERYTHING in your mouth, which means that every outfit we put you in is covered with drool. Bibs are our new best friend!
  • You are still wearing size 2 diapers but are wearing all 6 month clothes. Mommy had to box up all of your 3 month outfits. I can't believe how big you have gotten!
  • You are a great sleeper (as long as Witten doesn't wake you up). You sleep 10-11 hours every night.
  • You have become ticklish! It is so cute and we love hearing your giggles! You are the most ticklish around your neck and on your ribs...your feet are also ticklish, especially when we scrub them with a washcloth in your bath.
  • You love to talk and have a lot to tell us. We love hearing all of your sweet sounds.
You are such a sweet baby boy! We love you more and more everyday! Happy 5 months sweet Davis!

Lately...

I have been a very bad blogger! I can't believe it has been almost a full month since my last post. You would think it is because we have just been so busy that I haven't had time to sit down and write, but that hasn't been the case...just lazy! Robert on the other hand, has been much more busy with work. The past two weeks have been especially long for him, but he is on the downhill for the month and we are anxiously awaiting next week when we make our first trip back to Fort Worth since moving to Houston. To say that we are excited is an understatement!

Mommy and Davis have had a lot of fun just being at home together. We try to get out of the house at least once a day to give us both some fresh air and a change of scenery. Last week we met a new mommy and baby that live in Houston. We are finding new friends through old friends and that is helping us feel more at home. We tried to meet up to go on a walk last week, but it was pouring rain so we met at her house so the moms could get to know each other and the baby boys could play. Her baby boy is 6 months, so it's a great new friend to have.

Robert had one day off of work last Friday, so we decided to take a family trip to the Houston Downtown Aquarium. Davis absolutely loves going to aquariums! The lighting is soft and shades of blue and the bright lights and bright fish in the tanks are very attractive to him. He is memorized by the fish swimming back and forth. It is very cute to watch him watch the fish and try to talk to them as they swim by.

Tonight, Robert and I are going on our first date night without the baby since we moved to Houston a little over three months ago. While I am very excited to get some alone time with my sweet husband, I am nervous to leave Davis for the first time in a new city with someone other than family...of course I trust our sweet friend that we are leaving him with, but it doesn't stop me from worrying about my baby boy. This is a feeling that I'm sure I will continue to have for years to come.

Like I mentioned earlier, we are going back to Fort Worth next week. I am flying for the first time with Davis, and will be making the trip by myself. I am a little nervous about how he will do on the flight, but hope that he will be a pro! We are very happy to be able to see our family and friends that we miss so much. Next Sunday while we are in Fort Worth, we will be having Davis's baby dedication at Broadway. It will be a very special weekend and we are counting down the days!

Here are some pictures from our trip to the aquarium last Friday.

They also had white tigers at the aquarium.
