Galveston

This Friday, our family of 3 drove to Galveston to spend the weekend. We stayed at the beautiful Tremont House Hotel. Robert and I love this hotel! It is right on the strand and has a very classic, old Galveston feel to it.
Friday morning, Davis and I went to a play date with the Resiterns group and had a great time meeting new friends. Then, we all had lunch on the harbor side of the island where all of the cruise ships come in. We sat outside on the water, which Davis loved!

Then we met up with Courtney and Richard Wagner. It was so great to see them and catch up... our fingers are crossed that they will move here for Richard's residency next year. We miss our friends!

Saturday we took Davis out to the beach for the first time. He loved hearing and feeling the water and feeling the ocean breeze.

Then we met up with Joe and Rhonda Stephens who were finishing up a vacation on the island. Rhonda made a fabulous lunch that we ate outside right by the beach.
This was such a great little get away...we love living so close to the coast and love it when we get to see our sweet friends!

Davis's First Word

September 5th, 2013 (5 months old)- Davis said Mama!!! He has said it again a few times this morning! It makes my heart melt every time I hear it! Now it's time to start working on Dada! :)

Visit to Fort Worth

This past week, we made our first trip back to Fort Worth since moving to Houston. Davis and I flew on Tuesday and Robert drove up to join us on Thursday afternoon. I was very nervous about how Davis would do on his first flight, but he was great! I thought he would sleep after I fed him when the flight started (since it was his bedtime), but he giggled the whole flight.

Wednesday morning, we took Davis to visit his great grandmother (Mimi) who is declining in her health. It was such a sweet moment. She was very happy to have us there and said she couldn't believe she was holding her great grandson! She was able to feel his soft skin, told us he was very heavy, and that she loved him. I am so glad that we got to spend some special time with sweet Mimi.

Then, I was able to have a great day spent with my mom (CiCi). We took Davis to have lunch at The Lunch Box and were able to get a mani and pedi and even did a little shoe shopping! What a treat! The last mani/pedi I got was right before Davis was born and the last pair of shoes I bought was only because my feet had gotten so swollen during pregnancy that I couldn't fit in any of my shoes! :)

On Thursday, Davis got to spend time with his great grandmother and Grandpa while Mommy went to a hair appointment... clearly the first part of our trip home was about me getting pampered! Then we were able to have dinner with Papa and GiGi.

Friday, I got to take little man up to Lily B. to visit all of my teacher friends. It was strange to be up at the school seeing everyone busy with their new classes and to not be apart of it, but it also felt as if I hadn't left. Everyone is so loving and supportive and loved getting to see Davis. Friday night, Nana and Grandpa babysat while Robert and I got to meet up with our supper club group. It was SO great to see our sweet friends again. We miss them so much, so it was great to be able to catch up.

Saturday morning, we took Davis over to meet the Williamson/Holtz family. The last time I saw them was 5 days before Davis was born, so everyone was excited to meet him! Then we met up with our friends again for lunch before we got set to watch the big season opener for the Frogs.

Saturday night, Davis had an accident where he scratched his eye (much worse for parents- hate to hear him cry in pain). So the night was off to a bit of a rough start, but once we put him to bed, he was fine and we joined back up with the party of family and friends downstairs to cheer on the Frogs.

Sunday was a very special day for Davis and for our family. We celebrated Davis's baby dedication at Broadway Baptist Church. All of our loving family was there to help make the day extra special. Thank you to Papa and GiGi for hosting a beautiful lunch after church for everyone and to all our family for the sweet gifts. Davis is beyond blessed to have so much loving family.

This trip was so wonderful and is one we hope to be able to make more often. It was so great to see both our friends and family, which always makes it hard to leave. We are truly blessed!
