14, 15, and 16 months

Can't believe it has been 3 months since I last updated! What a difference 3 months has made in our lives! We have renovated our new home, made the move from Houston to Galveston, have been getting settled in our house, and now have a 16 month old baby (not so baby) boy!

Our sweet Davis is turning into a full toddler more and more each day. Here is a little recap of what has been going on in his life/development over the past few months.
  • Weight: (at 16 months) about 25 pounds Length:
  • You went for a 15 month checkup with your new doctor (Dr. Rodgers) who works at UTMB like Daddy. She is a very nice lady and you were very friendly with her. She was so impressed by you! She said she was amazed by how well you walked around and by how many words and sounds you already know! She said that you are a very smart and healthy boy...but we already knew that! ;)
  • You are walking and running everywhere! The only time you slow down in when you are in your crib to sleep. You are so busy all day exploring. It is so fun to watch you get excited about moving around and discovering all the things around you.
  • You have started to climb up on furniture, which is fun for you, but scary for Mommy and Daddy- especially when you get up without us seeing you (you are very quick)!
  • You have started imitating words and sounds that you hear even after only hearing them once. You are quite the talker! You know all of these animal sounds: dog, cat, elephant, duck, cow, snake, monkey, fish, chicken, sheep, horse
Words you "say" (words we can understand): up, down, mama, dada, papa, nana, memaw, doc, gigi, night-night (sounds like nana), cup, water (wa-wa), keys, truck, wheels, nap, shirt (turt), socks, glasses (ga-ga), eyes, nose, ear, tooth, mouth, uh-oh, color (kuh-kuh), book (kemp), video, cheese, fruit (tute), Elmo (melmo), closed, trees, kitty (key), train, candle (ki-ki), milk, outside, circle, baby, off, flower, make-up (ka-pu), chicken, ice, noodle (odle, oldle, odle), old McDonald (a series of uh, uh, uh, uh for each syllable), chip (pip), carrot (curts), cracker (ka-ka), ball, tent, block (cock), cow, turtle, phone (tone), yeah, no, and more that I'm sure I am forgetting!
  • You can follow one step directions (when you choose) and understand so much of what we tell you beyond what you can say.
  • You have a bit of a temper when you start to get sleepy and don't get what you want right away. You will sometimes flail to the ground and even try to bite if you are really frustrated. Having all of your molars coming in doesn't help. Teeth- you have a mouth FULL of teeth and love to brush them!
  • You are still napping twice a day and eating "big people" food. No more baby cans! You love macaroni and cheese, potatoes, chicken, green beans, noodles, raspberries (your favorite fruit), carrots, and so much more. We have completely taken away all bottles...it was much harder for Mommy and Daddy to do this as we had to face that you're not a baby anymore. You are still a great sleeper at night- sleeping 11 hours straight almost every night.
  • We have been using our membership to Moody Gardens a lot since moving to Galveston and your new favorite part is the splash-pad at Palm Beach. As soon as we get there you start squealing to get down and run into the water! Arms start flailing and you are full speed straight into the water. You even love going down the big slides in Mommy's lap (you even try to escape from me and go down yourself)! You still love to go to the aquarium and have started to take interest in the fish, but mostly just love to run laps all around the building!
  • You have such a big, fun personality! You are a very happy little boy and it is so much fun seeing you laugh and get excited about everything around you. You have recently discovered a love for all things "Elmo." Mommy has a app on her phone where you can call Elmo and I will occasionally pull up a video for you to watch, so now when you see my phone, you will pick it up and start saying "Elmo!" You love to have anyone's phone and will hold it up to your face as you walk around talking on it. Mommy needs to start watching how much she talks on it when I'm around you because you have started imitating what you hear...as the phone is to your face you will say "yeah, yeah, yeah..." You also still have a love for keys and will go searching for them in any purse you see that you can reach. You will even ask to be picked "up" when someone is standing by the table where we keep them, so that you can reach them. You are very smart!
  • The other loves of your life right now are trucks, (STILL) closing doors, and playing peek-a-boo. Anything that has wheels on it is a truck to you. You love to look at them and touch them. You love books about trucks, toy trucks, real trucks...you LOVE trucks!! You also still love to close and open doors. You have started to love to play peek-a-boo and will hide inside the island of our kitchen and close the doors completely and wait for us to open them and say "boo!" You also love to run into your room and hide behind your crib. You giggle when we say "where's Davis" and make a "pssst" sound and then run out into our arms saying "boo!"
  • You are very silly and dance to Daddy's beat-boxing noises he makes and love to spin around and around in circles. You will even start running to us from across the room with your arms stretched out and eyes closed as you laugh and fall into our arms.
  • You have loved playing in the yard at our new house. You love to help Mommy water the plants, and even more when we let you play in the hose in the yard. It puts a huge smile on your face.

13 months

Weight:
Length:

  • What a difference a month makes! You are not only walking now, but almost running! It didn't take you long to figure it out! You took your first steps on your own about 1 week after your first birthday and haven't stopped since. Just recently though, you have started trying to run. You haven't mastered that yet, which has resulted in some pretty tough falls and a few bumps and bruises, but you'll figure it out in no time!
  • You are wearing size 4 diapers and mostly 12 month clothes. However, you are quickly starting to fit in a lot of your 18 month outfits!
  • You still take 2 naps a day...most days...
  • You have started to eat "real" food now and don't care for the baby food I offer you anymore. You love anything with a lot of flavor in it and are getting better about picking up your food to feed yourself. You have also started drinking whole milk...no more formula! Where did my baby go?!
  • You have 8 teeth that have fully come through and more are on the way! We got you your first tooth brush this month, and you love to try to brush your teeth like Mommy and Daddy.
  • You are very talkative and we are starting to understand some of the words you say. You still know your animal noises, but have also learned "pool," "car," "rock." You also say "Uh-Oh" and have made that into a game. You will drop things just so you can say it. You are saying more and more everyday. You also can understand a lot of what we say to you. You can understand simple commands and will follow them most of the time and have learned what "no" means.  You don't follow what we say all the time, but when you know you're not supposed to touch something, you look at the object, look at us, and make a serious face while shaking your head "no, no." Mommy and Daddy have to try really hard to keep a straight face to teach you that it is serious, but it's so hard because you are so sweet and cute when you do this!
  • You love to go to the park. We try to go at least once a day. You love to climb all the way up to the top and explore. You have no fear and always want to see what the big kids are doing.
  • You love to wave and clap. You will wave hello to everyone that you see and even random objects that catch your attention. If Mommy or Daddy have the TV on to a show and you hear people clapping, you will stop whatever you are doing and start clapping with them.
  • You are so observant and are so smart! You still love to read all of your books and love taking them all off of the shelves to go through every one of them.
  • At the end of this month, you went to Florida for the 1st time and LOVED it! You love the beach and the ocean which makes us excited that we will be living by the beach for the next 3 years. You couldn't get enough of the ocean and kept wanting to go in deeper, even when a wave crashed right over your head! We stayed at Memaw and Doc's house in Vero Beach and celebrated Easter in Florida.
This is such a fun age! I love watching you grow and discover something new every day! I love you sweet Jeffrey Davis! :)

12 Months!!!!!! Happy birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET BOY!! I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by! It seems like yesterday that I woke up to tell your Daddy it was time to go to the hospital. We were so excited to meet you and fell in love with you from the moment they placed you in my arms. My has that love grown! We knew that you would forever change our lives, but we couldn't have known just how much joy you have brought us. You are the greatest gift and we are so blessed to be your parents! It has been so fun watching you grow and discover the world around you. You are a very curious little boy and are so observant. Your laugh and sweet noises melt our hearts. We love seeing your face light up as you smile.

Weight: 21 pounds 11 ounces
Length: 30 inches

  • You are the fastest crawler in the world! Seriously...your daddy and I get tired trying to keep up with you! We think that this is why you haven't taken to walking yet. You still aren't interested in letting us hold your hands to walk, but you will cruise around all of our furniture with ease.
  • You are still a great eater. You only have a bottle of milk when you wake up and when you go to bed, and everything else is solid food. Your favorite things to eat are things with a lot of flavor! You love trying to eat whatever is on our plates.
  • You are a good sleeper. You sleep 11-12 hours a night and take 2 naps a day. One about an hour after you wake up and then another after lunch. Mommy hopes that you keep up the napping for as long as possible! :)
  • You have  7 (almost 8) teeth. Teething has not been the easiest for you, but you're a tough little guy and they are coming in fast!
  • You are quite the talker and are already saying and understanding many words. You can say: mama, dada, kitty, closed, and (a version of) outside. You also can make the animal noises for duck, cow, dog, kitty, and your new favorite, monkey!
  • You LOVE being outside and get so excited and squeal when we walk to the front door to go out. You still love going to Mommy's workout classes and also playing at the park.
  • You love Witten kitty and are getting faster at chasing him down...he will be in trouble when you start walking and running!
  • Your favorite toys/stuffed animals are still your lovey blankets. You love all 4 of them and we never go anywhere without them. You also still love your books. You love to read them by yourself and also crawling in our lap to have them read to you. You also love sitting, climbing, and jumping in your chair that Nana and Grandpa gave you for Christmas.
  • Bath time is still one of the best parts of our day. You have figured out how to squirt water out of your bath toys and think it's really funny when you get us wet.
  • You still haven't had any stranger anxiety and will let anyone hold you. If you see someone sitting on the floor, you think that they must be wanting you to sit on their lap and will crawl on over with no hesitation. You are very friendly and will talk and smile at every one. You love to give kisses (especially to yourself in the mirror and any pictures of babies).
  • You clap your hands when we say "Yay!" and waved for the first time two days after your birthday.  We were loaded up in the car about to leave Ft. Worth and come home when you started waving goodbye like a pro to Nana, Grandpa, and Memaw who were standing there waving to you...of course all our hearts melted! It was perfect and so sweet.
  • You love music and dancing along. Even when you're trying to walk with your walker if the music comes on, you will stop walking and start smiling and dancing!
You have the sweetest personality and are such a happy baby. You have grown up so much and so fast! We treasure all of our memories we have made over this first year and are excited for all that is to come for you in the next year! We love you more than you will ever know! Happy 1st birthday, Jeffrey Davis!

11 months

How can you already be 11 months old?!

Weight: 22 pounds
Length: 29 3/4 inches

  • You are wearing size 4 diapers and are quickly growing out of all your 9 month outfits. You mostly wear 12 month clothes now!
  • You are SO busy! You love to explore everything around you and hate when we try to hold you back.
  • You are the fastest crawler ever! You will pull up on and cruise around on every piece of furniture or object around you, but are not interested in walking on your own. When we try to stand you up in the middle of the room, you sit right back down and start crawling...why would you want to walk if you're so fast already?
  • You love your new chair that Nana and Grandpa gave you for Christmas. You always look so proud when you crawl into it and sit down. You also love playing in your little house that Mommy and Daddy got you. You are so fun to watch play and explore. You still love to read all of your books.
  • You are very vocal. You have mastered 2 animal sounds! You know what the duck and cow say and can make the noises on cue. You also say "go" when you want to do something and say a "key" for kitty when Witten walks by you. You are such a smart boy!
  • You are an excellent eater. You eat about 4 solid food meals a day and have started to eat more finger foods. You love to eat anything with a lot of flavor and always want to have a bite of whatever Mommy and Daddy are eating.
  • You love to play "crawl away from Daddy." It is the cutest thing! Daddy hides around the corner and you squeal watching him with the biggest smile on your face. When he starts to crawl towards you, you turn to me and crawl as fast as you can into my lap as you make the cutest screaming noise.
  • You have learned how to blow bubbles through a straw into a cup and think it is so funny! You get the sweetest little grin on your face.
  • You have 6 teeth and have just started teething again so your sleeping has been a little off. You sleep 10-12 hours almost every night and take 2 naps almost every day.
I cannot believe that you will be one year old in just one more month! I love getting to spend every day with you and watching you grow into such a sweet and smart little boy. We all love you so much!!

10 Months

DOUBLE DIGITS!!!! I cannot believe our little man is 10 months old! He has the sweetest personality and we treasure every day with him! Time is flying by!

Weight: 21 pounds
Length: 29 1/2 inches

  • You are a MOVER!!! As soon as we put you on the ground, you are off! You are such a fast crawler and are pulling up on EVERY piece of furniture! You have even started cruising around once you have pulled yourself up on furniture like our couch. Your favorite thing to crawl after...Witten kitty! :) As soon as he walks by you, you're off!
  • You are a serious eater...we still haven't found a food that you don't like. You love trying new things, especially whatever is on Mommy and Daddy's plate. You have also mastered drinking from a straw and love trying to drink out of big cups!
  • You are still in a size 3 diaper, but we will be moving you up to a 4 very soon! You are wearing mostly 9 month clothes, but can already fit in a lot of 12 month outfits! I can remember looking at these clothes when you were just born and thinking how HUGE they looked...it is amazing how fast you have grown!
  • You can say "mama" and "dada" and it makes us so happy! There is nothing sweeter than when you look at us and say our name! You also say "twinkle, twinkle" whenever we read your book or sing you the song. You have also learned how to say "kitty" when you see Witten walk by. You sometimes say what we think is "duck" and "quack, quack." You are such a smart boy!
  •  Your laugh is the sweetest sound in the world! It is so funny when you get tickled by something we do. It's usually a funny noise or action that Daddy does when he gets home from work that will just get you going! It makes our cheeks hurt watching you smile and laugh!
  • You are such a sweet and happy boy! You smile all of the time and have learned how to give us kisses! There is nothing better!!!
  • You are very aware of everything going on around you and love to just observe everyone and everything around you. Mommy and Daddy have had to introduce a new word to you this month..."no!" as you have started to explore new areas of the house. You listen, most of the time, and will move on to find a new toy. We hope that you continue to listen this well!
  • You have been teething a bunch this month, which is not fun for anyone! You now have 4 teeth on top and 2 on the bottom. Having your teeth coming through has made sleeping through the night a bit more difficult for you this month, but you are still a little trooper!
  • You are taking 2 naps a day. One about 2 hours after you wake up in the morning and the other around lunch time.
  • You still love going with Mommy to her outside workout class. It is getting a little bit tougher though because if I let you out of the stroller, you are gone in a second, crawling off or trying to eat all of the leaves you can pick up before I can catch you.
  • This month you celebrated your first New Years! You celebrated your first New Year's Eve by gong to bed by 7 and sleeping though the night! :) However, you did enjoy a bowl of black eyed peas for good luck in the new year!
Mommy has already started to plan your 1st birthday! I cannot believe how fast time has by passing by! We love every day with you, and have really loved watching you grow this month!

First Chrstmas

We had the best Christmas in Fort Worth! It was so wonderful to be around all of our family and to watch everyone share the joy of Davis's first Christmas! It was such a special week! We are so blessed to have such amazing families- it ended much to fast!

Here are some pictures that capture some of the wonderful moments of the week.

We also took Davis to the Fort Worth Zoo for the first time!
